BaZi Calculator
Explore your Four Pillars using the local birth time and place.
Ink landscape for BaZiBirth time & place
Enter the local time and place from the birth record. If the place is not listed, you can enter its coordinates and timezone manually.
When a birth time happens twice
When clocks move back at the end of daylight saving time, one local clock time can refer to two distinct instants. The calculator’s earlier and later choices describe their order in time, not which chart is better.
A hypothetical teaching example: New York, 2024-11-03 at 01:30, in America/New_York. This is not a personal birth record.
Earlier · EDT: UTC−04:00 → 05:30 UTC
Later · EST: UTC−05:00 → 06:30 UTC
Check the original record for a UTC offset, a daylight saving note, or evidence that the birth occurred before or after the clocks moved back. If evidence is insufficient, retain the uncertainty; do not use a chart that feels more fitting as evidence for choosing a time.
For the reading order of the four pillars, continue with the Four Pillars guide; see the calculation standards for the scope and limits of time handling. These materials support cultural understanding and self-reflection, without prediction guarantees.

Inside your chart
Your report, layer by layer
A BaZi chart is not one label. Sibyl keeps the calculated chart, its structural relationships, and the evidence behind the birth-time conversion visible as separate reading layers.

Four Pillars
Begin with the four stem–branch pairs. Their positions preserve the chart’s time structure before any editorial explanation is added.
Day Master
Use the heavenly stem of the Day Pillar as the reference point for reading the rest of the displayed relationships.
Structural layers
Inspect Five Elements, Ten Gods, Hidden Stems, and NaYin as distinct chart records—not as a single personality score.
Calculation evidence
Check place, civil time, timezone and DST resolution, true-solar adjustment, and nearby solar-term boundaries before reading the chart as determinate.
Method & evidence
Methodology
Birth place, historical timezone and daylight saving time can affect your chart. Enter the local birth time from the original record; times close to a solar-term boundary may need further checking. Birth details are handled in this browser and stay out of the URL.
Inputs stay in this browser and are never placed in URLs, sent to analytics, or stored in the cloud by default.
Frequently asked questions
- Why do birth place and timezone matter?
- Historical offsets and DST affect local civil time; a fixed UTC+8 assumption is not sufficient.
- Are solar-term boundaries fully verified?
- The current version flags a ±5 minute boundary; full authoritative astronomical-source coverage remains under independent validation.
